Nome, Alaska | June 2012 | Canon 1D4 | Canon 600mm f4 IS | f5.6, 1/2000, ISO 400, highlight tone priority turned on.
We were very happy to photograph this species on our Nome trip this year. In North America, the Pacific Golden-Plover has a breeding range limited to extreme western Alaska. I'm posting from the Anchorage Airport and processed this on my laptop, so let me know if anything looks off.

What a great looking bird in just a spectacular setting.
Nothing look off at all, the tundra is amazing and the detail on the bird is off the charts.

This is truly spectacular! The bird is gorgeous - I've never seen one in full breeding plumage. And the garden-like tundra is to die for. Worth a trip to Nome just for this image. Techs all perfect. Let us see some more.

A spectacular image, indeed. Light, bg, bird, habitat, IQ - all excellent. Doesn't get any better than this, Matthew. Thanks for sharing, and please keep them coming.

Looks great Matthew!! I love the flowers on the ground and of course the subject doesn't look too bad either!! Just a small dust bunny to eliminate near upper right corner :-)
